Motor Trend did one of their “Big Tests” on full-size luxury SUVs. The contenders were as follows:
Mercedes GL450
Infinity QX80
Lincoln Navigator
Land Rover Ranger Rover HSE
Cadillac Escalade Platinum
Lexus LX 570
Out of all of those, the Escalade took first place. It beat a fucking Range Rover!!!! Holy shit.
I guess it’s more than a Tahoe with some leather now, eh?

Hurray for us. (U.S.)

Surprising that the Chevy had the best interior.

It’s much easier for me to be happy about this without it being presented by a certain boastful person.
Long live the Escalade!

The Cadillac has great looks thats for sure.
All in all I’d probably buy the land cruiser though.

Man, Land Rover can’t win a Motortrend award to save their life. Solution make the SVR exhaust (F Type exhaust) standard on everything since they love that thing.

I walk by a new Escalade sometimes and I absolutely adore it. The performance is arrantly good as well.
Theres a part of me that wants to see one lifted and turned into an overland vehicle.

They only tested a HSE Range. You have to go higher to get leather covered everything.

I’m pretty sure I know who you’re talking about.
Let’s leave it at that.

Let’s shall.

Amazed they didn’t automatically vote the Lexus into a more distant place claiming age.

If I wanted a leather-covered everything I’d get a Porsche with all the boxes checked an all the boxes’ boxes checked.

Of course, it did...... It’s comfy, full of tech, and you can fix it with a mallet.

We can’t let our delicate skin touch non-leather covered air vents and glove box handles can we? :O

No, please elaborate.

You’re the Quint-essential Cadillac fan, after all.

The air vents blow out leather particles!

Let's not. I insist.

Man my Porsche’s check boxes are leather covered.

What, you thought all those rappers and basketball players were just idiots? Escalade is a nice ride.

Agreed.

It was meant in jest, but looking back, I agree.

I’m talking of course about jkm.

C’mon man, don’t be like that.
![]() 05/11/2015 at 18:07 |

It was meant as a joke, but yeah, it breaks several Oppo rules in hindsight. My bad.

Eh, props to owning up to it.

Meh, I thought it was funny. Not as funny as people defending me, but still funny.

I figured you would. Believe it or not, you strike me as difficult to offend.

I wish the Lexus wasn’t so weird looking now...

I just actually read this and the observed fuel economy numbers surprised me the most. The two V6 SUVs get virtually the same (range rover) or worse (navigator) real world fuel economy numbers than the 6.2L Escalade. Further reasons why I tell everyone to avoid the eco-boost at all costs.
There’s no way to put this kindly, but if you’re a Prius fan, it’s best to skip this part. According to the EPA, the most efficient vehicle here is the Range Rover. The Feds rate it at 17/23/19 mpg city/ highway/combined. Our Real MPG results for this group are not pretty. The Range Rover falls considerably to 14.4/19.9/16.4 mpg. Quite the plunge, don’t you think? The others don’t fare much better. The Escalade is EPA-rated at 15/21/17 mpg but actually achieves 14.1/20.5/16.4 mpg. The QX80 is rated at 13/19/15 mpg but in the real world nets 12.5/17.9/14.5 mpg. The Navigator is rated at 15/20/17 mpg but actually records 13.9/18.1/15.5 mpg. The Mercedes-Benz is closest to its EPA numbers (17/21/19 mpg)—we got 16.7/20.7/18.3 mpg. The lone surprise of the group is the Lexus LX 570, which is dismally EPA-rated at 12/17/14 mpg but bests those in our testing with 13.3/17.5/14.9 mpg. Better, sure, but you’d never know it because of the LX 570’s relatively small 24.6-gallon gas tank. You’ll be at the pump more often than not. Moving on.
